Karuna Jeeva Kalyana Trust (R) – A Social Welfare Voluntary Organization started on 14th of January 2000 in the name of ‘Karuna Daya Seva Samsthe’, under the Chairmanship of Dr. K.L. Nagaraj Shetty, a retired Professor of Medicine from J.J.M. Medical College, Davangere, Karnataka. A free accommodation was given in his clinic for the organization for about three years. The name of the organization has been changed as Karuna Jeeva kalyana Trust(R) and the office and drug bank have been shifted to the above address recently which is centrally located in the city.

The objectives of the organization are: to serve the poor patients for their medical treatment, to help the poor girl children to continue their education, to collect excess food from marriage choultries and distribute the same to slum dwellers counseling and treatment to poor psychologically disturbed people etc., As a first step, a drug bank was formed by collecting the sample medicines from about 300 practicing doctors which were going waste after expiry date.
