Karuna Jeeva Kalyana Trust is a voluntary organization rendering social service in and around Davangere, Karnataka. The organization was first started in the year 2000, under the chairmanship of Dr.K.L Nagaraj Shetty, a retired professor of medicine from J.J.M College of Medicine College, Davangere, as Karuna Daya Samasthe. As a first step to service a Drug bank was formed by collecting sample medicines from about 300 practicing doctors. Then a panel of about 35 doctors was formed by requesting each of them to treat atleast two patients without any kind of fee. Free drugs was distributed to such patients after the prescription of the doctors, from our drug bank and the same service is still continuing and best utilized successfully till date. The name of the organization has later changed as Karuna Jeeva Kalyana Trust® and the office is centrally located in the city of Davangere and is registered as a Trust under the Registrar of Societies, Government of Karnataka.
Education for a girl child means making the next generation well educated, full of virtues, free from the useless superstitions, confident and capable to do something good for the family, for the society and for the country as a whole. Following are the activities conducted by KJKT with regard to the above concerned area:
1. Distribution of books, bags, study materials & other essential things to meritorious & financially backward students.
2. Merit scholarships for meritorious & financially backward students (Caste no bar).
3. Financial support to meritorious students pursuing Technical/ professional education.
4. Free hostel Facility ,food etc., for students pursuing any course (especially girls) who are financially poor, orphans, or students who are considered as living below the poverty level.
5. Counseling sessions from expert doctors for teenagers in high schools, about the problems & health related issues of adolescence (Adhi Areyadha Samaseygalu).
6. Providing vocational training and employment for women in need.
When we talk about health, we usually refer to the condition of the body. However, health does not merely mean being free from physical pain or the symptoms of disease. The mind is of crucial consideration in the overall assessment of well being. Following are the activities conducted by KJKT with regard to the above concerned area:
1. Free Medical Camps.
2. Free distribution of medicines for the financially backward people from our drug bank.
3. Diabetes & BP control awareness programme in association with Arivu Group.
4. Tobacco & Gutkha free society –Awareness program.
Environmental protection is an increasingly pressing issue all over the world. Ozone depletion, green house effect, global climate changes or global warming, etc, are the ongoing issues in environment.
Following are the activities conducted by KJKT with regard to the above concerned area:
1. Free distribution & planting of saplings in school & college campus.
2. Distribution of water bowls and small water tanks for preserving water for animals and birds in public places.
3. Awareness programs & seminars in schools & colleges about environmental pollution and ways to control.
What is the impact of literature on human development?’ is a million dollar question the answer of which can’t be explored unless one tends to have a glance on the rise and fall of the nations. The history bears witness that literature has played a vital role in the development of civilization of different nations that earned repute in the comity of nations.
Following are the activities conducted by KJKT with regard to the above concerned area:
1. Karuna Jyothi- monthly news letter.
2. Programmes to bring awareness about the need of better administration. Youth Alive-workshop for youths.
3. Nanu Mechidha pusthaka –monthly programme for literary appreciation.
4. Prathima chitra koota-documentary film show.
